Hello, I am new to this forum. I just want to hear your opinions for the Jockeys who are riding at HK. My assessment to them could be out-dated as I have been to oversea for many years. Here are my thought:

Whyte:- Not a G1 jockey but he keeps winning lesser races for connections. Weak at ding-dong finishes and NEVER knows how to race horses from the back.

Dyes:- I have seen him riding for 20 years now ( I am from Sydney). He seldom rides on pace and loves riding backmarkers. His record on G1 ( >= 100s) tells me he knows his trade. A big race jockey.

Prebble:- A young guy who sometimes rides with dirty tricks. He has improved a lot since leaving Melbourne. I would not mide backing his mounts.

Delpech:-  Where did they find this guy? Send him home, please. I used to think being a South African champion needs good riding ( i.e. M Roberts). But I have changed my view on that.

C Soumillion:--Simply the best. I wonder who is more popular nowadays, is it CS or Frankie Dettori?

Mosse:-- He was awesome at the start of this HK season. It seems to me he worries too much about risk-taking than winning races. Not as good as he was at the early 90s.

Doleuze:--- Apollo Ng wrote that he used to ride at Brisbane. I could not recall that, though. I have been following European racings for many years but I had never heard of him before he made it at HK. He is OK although not in the same class as Soumillion.

Nunes:--- an underrated jockey. He is better than what you think.

Odendal:-- send him home and make him pay for the air-fares himself.

Feliz Cotzee:--- He is getting older now but not many jockey on this planet could beat Kinane at a ding-dong finishes. He has improved a lot since riding for Tony Cruz. He used to ride without 'brian'

Nikolic:-- Better than M Rodd but isn't at the same class as the other 2 Oz jockeys.

Current Ranking:
1. Soumillion
2. Dyes, Prebbles, Mosse
3. Whyte, Cotzze
4  Doleuze
5  Nikolic, Nunes
6  WM Lai, Cheng
7 Delpech
8 CK Tong, and the rest
9 Odendal

Ranking of the last decade:
( not rating Dettori and Fallon as they stayed less than 2 months)
1. Gary Stevens, M Kinane , Soumillion
2. Tony Cruz
3.  D Beadman, D Oliver
4.  Dyes, Prebbles , Mosse
5.  Whyte, Cotzze
6. Basil Marcus, Craig Williams
7  John Marshall, Greg Childs, Stradome

Where're you from? We have members from the US, Aus and Canada....

to me, Nikolic will always be the last one in my list

I would prefer to type in Chinese but I am not good at that.

The tempo of HK racing is very similar to OZ racing and it is totally different to the European races. Hence most OZ and Sth Afr jockeys could od well here.

Honestly, although I bag a lot of jockeys here, HK still has the best jockeys riding here. HK racing fans are spoiled and they only need to access the ability of the horses and not to worry about the jockeys' ability.

A lot of good Oz horses were sold to HK and they have had their names changed.....but I won't let them disappear from my eye-sights. BTW, John Size and Whyte are at Sydney today. A new training track / Breeding farm is opened and the owner has invisted J Size to ride 2 runners here to test the surface. John Size also bring along D Whyte and Whyte also rode two horses here. Needless to say, they are here to buy new horses for the stable.

what more you can do to rank the jokceys are to raise a VOTE thread so that people can vote for their favourite.
