holding in this race, then win in the next, that is a big problem
it cannot be explained why the horse can improve so quick, not one horse,
but several in a season, it means only he knows wh ...
Anyway, maybe I seldom bet heavy on a horse, I think he's just a shy jockey and knew the situation or races he got. If he found there's risk, he saves energy for a race of better situation, esp he's getting older and older now, and he usually need to rides ALL races.
For power, he's not the best. For skill, not also. For young, not now anymore. So,... he use his brain. Some riders use all of his energy in a race. But this guy not. That's is just his personality.
He seldom got accidents, he seldom win 0 race on a day, and he's still the championship jockey, regardless you hate him or not.
Just ignore the betting factor, and imagine you were him. When you need to ride ALL races, and you know that if you win all of them, you'll be pinpoint by all others. What'll you do?
If it were me, I'll focus on easy races - not so hot, not so heavy, not so out position. Got no accident, rides happily. Just do enough to get the champion, still be good-looking, and wait for retirement.
If you ignore this factors, yes, he's doing manipulation. For me, it's his tactic.
Believe it or not, he's the jockey that's easiest to guess his mind.
And Mr. Choi is also a very clever. Maybe he likes 韋達 this season because they're similar.
